This classical Greek style armor was used very effectively by the armies of the city-state of Spartan.
This armor dates from about 500 BC and was considered some of the most effective armor of its time. The Spartan army was the most effectively trained fighting force of its day.
The Greeks were so effective in their fighting methods that their techniques became the basis of the mighty Roman armies.
